The observation tower of Wil
Media report:
The 37-meter-high observation tower on the Hofberg was built in 2006 and offers a magnificent view over the city and region of Wil, across the Fürstenland, the Hinterthurgau, the Toggenburg, the Alpstein massif with the majestic Säntis, and as far as the seven Churfirsten peaks.
However, its supporting structure is no longer sufficiently stable. For safety reasons, urgent structural measures must be taken. This work is being managed by JSI.
As part of the renovation work, the large X-shaped logs will be replaced. The current Douglas fir logs will be removed and replaced with double-impregnated silver fir logs. The Douglas fir logs will be cut to size on-site using a mobile cutting machine. This allows some of them to be reused as weather protection for the stairwell cladding, thus better protecting the existing structure from the elements.
